Are Spaniards and Italians racially related?

My father is Spaniard, as in SPAIN Spanish, not Mexican. He is 6 ft tall with dark (now salt and pepper) wavy hair, dark eyes, abundant body hair, and a hook like nose. His skin is olive and he tans in the summer. He is frequently mistaken for Italian and sometimes other nationalities like Greek or Portuguese. That made me wonder, are Italians and Spaniards racially related?
