If pive scavenging was how early hominids procured meat.....?

Does that mean that meat-eating played a relatively minor role in our evolution. Seeing as pive scavenging means carrying away carces that were already hunted by other predators and would have relatively little flesh other then what was on the head or the bone marrow.
