What would you do if you found a poloroid of a deseased Kurt Cobain?

Lets say a friend was cleaning out his recently deseased grandfathers belongings. Story is that the grandfather was a packrat and walked around picking up things he found on the side of the road in his neighborhood. He called it treasure hunting. This resulted in a cellar of full of...garbage that eventually filled up a construction sized dumpster. Among them a suitcase with a combination lock/latch type thing must have been found that appeared to be empty except for an easy to miss pocket in the top half. It contained poloroids of several deseased people laid out in caskets. The only recognizable photo was one labled Kurt Cobain. My friend wants to sell it to anyone who would buy it. uming it's genuine...Is it illegal to possess? Would you attempt to sell it or try to turn it into the police hoping it would reach his family for their decision on what to do with it?
