Are rebublicans really for free market? If so, why are they in favor of corporate welfare?

The states sole legitimate purpose is protecting property rights and fraud in the free market system with no governmental interference for subsidization and corporate welfare. The free market is all about competition which will lead to higher quality commodities, wont the state favoritism for big corporations end up granting them monopolistic status and thus decrease competition that screws with the consumers and small businesses? is economic-fascism spewed by republicans an accurate description of the free market? Or is it just pejorating the term?
