Can Lost Fuel Cap, and almost no gas in car cause fail smog test?

Check engine may be caused by no gas cap. It is a closed system to recover fumes. However, no guarantee that it WILL p with the cap. Have to test. PLEASE find out why oil light is on. That will KILL your engine!
