What is the answer to this physics question?

This was a question I had on a standarized test today: "Two objects fall of a cliff. One is simply dropped, and the other is kicked off of the ledge. If both actions occur at the same time, which will hit the ground first?" I said that they would hit the ground at the same time, even though the kicked object would follow a curved path. Was I right?
